What the assessment includes
Preparation and safety
Review specimen and slide identification, PPE, cryostat readiness, handwheel locking, and blade guarding before adjustments or changes.
Orientation, freezing, and sectioning
Assess tissue orientation, embedding and freezing, conservative facing, temperature and section thickness, and collection of intact sections on labeled slides.
Quality, handoff, and completion
Review staining and coverslipping, artifact correction, escalation, case documentation, slide delivery, remaining tissue, cleaning, disinfection, and case review.
